1st Annual 100 Mile House Puppet & Mask Making Retreat

A one-week workshop and camping retreat in the beautiful B.C. Cariboo. We will be conducting workshops on mask making and giant puppet making culminating in a community celebration of summer. 3 Day Mask Workshop - The first two weeks will be focusing on moulding and decorating a unique mask using clay, paper mache, paints etc. The third week will focus on using the masks created for performance work.

Devising the Mast Workshop - The mask has often been in the forefront of popular theatre, and folk art. While often silent, it is not dumb. Mask theatre past and present is rich in emotion, narrative, humour, tragedy, metaphor, and symbolism.

This mask workshop is for participants wanting to learn how to make a mask either for decoration or for performance work.

Location: 2-day workshop held at Rhizome Cafe
Dates: Sunday, Sept 14 & 21
Time: 4:30pm - 7:00ish
Fee: $35 includes dinner on both evenings!

Sunflower Crankastoria - the story of a sunflower that is about to be chopped down by developers who want to build factories. But the land is saved by the noble farmers who protest to get their land back.

Performed at the Strathcona Community Gardens Open House.

Rosie Snow Puppet Show - performed for Mommies on Main a show celebrating local and Canadian inspired creations.

Performed at the'Turn to the Sun' Sunflower Seed Sale, a non-profit group raising funds which support community based HIV/AIDS projects in Africa.

Flexible Theatre will be performing and presenting a workshop at Harrison Hot Springs for CUPE.

Rosie Snow Puppet Show & Puppet Making Workshop

Flexible Theatre presents The Rosie Snow Show, a modern day Snow White fairy tale done in rhyming couplets with tabletop puppets. Join Rosie as she leaves her job at the royal palace to go and live at the end of the palace garden where she is accepted and loved by her new-found friends.

The 25-minute show will be followed by a puppet-making workshop. Perfect for kids of all ages and their families. Stay afterwards for supper! Rhizome will be open until 7pm.

Minimum admission: $6 for adults, $4 for kids; any extra is much appreciated to help cover costs!
